Gas prices continue to plummet as Christmas approaches and Cumberland is leading the way in Maryland with the average price now below $2.00 for a gallon of regular unleaded. The average in Cumberland heading into the final weekend before Christmas was $1.98- down eight cents from last week. In Maryland, the statewide average stands at $2.02, down four cents from a week ago. Nationwide prices held steady at $2.01, same as last week.
