Following one of the busiest travel periods of the year, gas prices continue to fall locally and nationally. This week, Maryland, as well as neighboring states, Delaware ($2.21) and Pennsylvania ($2.71) have state gas price averages that are cheaper than one year ago, with each state now paying the lowest gas prices of the year. Today’s national gas price average is $2.49, which is down nine cents in the last week, 31 cents in the last month, and is the same price as this time last year.  This reflects the lowest national average this year. Maryland’s average price is 11 cents less than the national average at $2.38 per gallon. The state average is six cents lower than last week, 28 cents less than last month, and eight cents per gallon less than last year on this date.
