Gas Prices Lowering

June 18th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

After reaching a new 2016 high last weekend, the national average price at the pump is stabilizing this week. Today’s national average of $2.35 per gallon has dropped by three cents in the last week, but still remains higher than last month’s price by 12 cents per gallon. Although pump prices have increased over the month, consumers continue to benefit from yearly savings, as the national average is down 45 cents per gallon compared to a year ago.

Maryland’s average gallon cost reached a high for the year earlier in June at $2.34 per gallon, but the state average has been trending downward this week to $2.32 per gallon. Today’s average is two cents a gallon less compared to last week’s price and remains higher than last month’s price, but only by eight cents.  As is the trend nationwide, Maryland’s average year-over-year price is lower by 46 cents per gallon.
