General Assembly Now Focusing on Transportation Funding

March 12th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

With four weeks remaining in the 2013 Session of the Maryland General Assembly, work begins in earnest this week on the transportation funding bill that Governor Martin O'Malley and legislative leaders believe will generate hundreds of millions of dollars for road and bridge projects, as well as mass transit. The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing on the bill on Friday afternoon. Senate President Mike Miller said that he believes the measure has enough votes in the Senate to pass. Miller believes that in order to pass the bill in the House, leaders will have to make deals with Baltimore City lawmakers over school construction funding, and Prince George';s County lawmakers over funding for Prince George's County Hospital.
