Gov. Hogan Accused Of Going About Crime Proposals The Wrong Way

The chair of the state Senate's Judicial Proceedings Committee suggested Governor Larry Hogan went about his crime proposals the wrong way. Senator Will Smith, a Montgomery County Democrat, told WBAL this week that the governor's bills haven't been unjustly held up and got a fair hearing.  Senate President Bill Ferguson came to Smith's defense when Hogan said Smith should step down as chairman. Last month, Hogan refiled his bills as emergency legislation. Smith said that before making his proposals, Hogan should have convened stakeholders and experts. Smith said lawmakers will have a package in the next couple of weeks "that deals with the immediate but also the long term" issues of violent crime in Baltimore…
