October 10th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Municipal League (MML), which represents the state’s 157 cities and towns and two special taxing districts, will host a gubernatorial candidate forum for mayors, city and town council leaders, and other municipal government leaders from across Maryland at MML’s 2018 fall conference in Annapolis, Md., October 10-12. The annual conference has returned to Maryland’s capital to coincide with the State’s general election in November. Conference attendees can participate in forums between Gov. Larry Hogan and Ben Jealous along with candidates running for Attorney General and Comptroller following the general session/legislative issues presentation.

“MML is honored to host a discussion between the state’s top candidates running in the Maryland general election,” said Scott Hancock, executive director of MML. “Our members are eager to hear from these candidates on how they plan on assisting municipal officials in tackling the issues that their respective communities are facing.”

In addition to the forums, the conference offers educational workshops and academy core classes to strengthen officials’ abilities to serve their communities. These workshops cover topics affecting municipalities including blighted properties, climate change, legislative hot topics and municipal budgeting.

Attendees will also plan for the future of municipal government in Maryland during the Oct. 12th annual business meeting when the membership will discuss and adopt the League’s legislative agenda for the 2019 Maryland General Assembly, as recommended by the MML Legislative Committee.

The 2018 Fall MML Conference will be held at The Westin Annapolis. For more information, including a complete agenda and registration details, visit http://www.mdmunicipal.org.
