Governor Martin O'Malley is planning to propose same day voter registration in Maryland. WBAL reports the governor has said many times he would like to expand early voting beyond the six days ahead of the official election day, and wants to add additional voting places. The Washington Post reports that would not apply to voting on election day itself, only to the days allowed for early voting. Many Republicans have opposed early voting and are expected to argue against same day voter registration as well.
