Sen. John McCain has decided to stop treatment for the brain cancer he has been battling for over a year, his family said Friday in an announcement that precipitated a rare moment of bipartisan empathy in honor of the Vietnam war hero and Republican political veteran. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has issued the following statement: The First Lady and I are praying for my friend Senator John McCain and his family at this difficult time. The consummate man in the arena, Senator McCain is one of our nation’s greatest examples of valuing service above self and always putting country first. I am honored to know John McCain, and his service has forever changed our country for the better.
