Governor Signs Bill To Double “Flush Tax”

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley on Wednesday signed a number of environmental bills including the one to double the so called "flush tax" on septic systems from $30 to $60 to pay for improvements to municipal sewer systems.  Another bill places restrictions on where new septic systems could be placed, limiting development in rural areas. The Governor said that while these pieces of legislation may not be popular initially- they are each in the long term best interests of the state and its citizens…
