Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism to Hold Information-Sharing Meetings

The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism (GOSV) will offer information-sharing meetings on Monday, Aug. 8, and Tuesday, Aug. 9, for nonprofits, community leaders and all volunteer-supported groups. Jeff Griffin, executive director of GOSV, and members of his staff will provide information about grant funding, free resources for volunteer recognition and expansion of volunteer programs, with the help of AmeriCorps.

The Aug. 8 session will be held at noon in Garrett College’s Continuing Education Room 205. The event is hosted by the Garrett County Health Department and Garrett College. Lunch will be provided. Reservations are encouraged, but not required, and can be made by calling 301-334-7730 or 301-895-3111.

The Aug. 9 session, to be hosted by Frostburg State University, will be held at 10 a.m. at City Place, located at Water and Mechanic streets in Frostburg. Light refreshments will be provided. No reservations are required.

The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism helps communities celebrate the contributions of volunteers with service awards, proclamations, volunteer certificates and statewide events.
