Governor’s Priorities Could Prove Economically Devastating To Area

If western Maryland officials thought last year’s general assembly agenda looked like an “assault on rural” Maryland- this year may more closely resemble an all out war. Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine, who frequently is in Annapolis to testify on bills on behalf of the county, says that there is almost a “perfect storm” of priorities coming from the O’Malley administration that could prove economically devastating for local residents. He says the Governor’s proposed sales tax hike on gasoline alone will prove to be a major hit for those in rural Maryland who have to travel long distances to work every day…
