Graduation ceremonies were held recently for the latest success story with Allegany County’s Drug Court program. The drug court program, which is funded through a grant from the Maryland Judiciary, was initiated in 2016 by Judge Jeffrey Getty, State’s Attorney Michael Twigg and James Elliott of the Public Defender’s Office. There are 25 participants now, all at various stages, and officials anticipate having up to 40, by mid-summer.
