Grant Will Help Develop Broadband Internet Access In Allegany County

Earlier this year, Maryland U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded another $50,000 grant for a broadband impact study- just the latest federal investment in fully developing the information super highway in Maryland.  The lack of broadband Internet access in Allegany County impacts the community in education, economic development, and community support services like public safety and emergency services.  Senator Cardin says that in today's global marketplace, broadband is what connects U.S. communities and businesses to each other and to the world- and it will  bring new jobs and opportunity to communities and small businesses in Western Maryland…
