“Green Bag” appointments coming from Governor Friday

February 15th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

On Friday, Gov. Larry Hogan is scheduled to submit to lawmakers the names of people he wishes to appoint to a variety of boards and commissions. The appointments must be made by the 40th day of the legislative session — which would fall on Sunday this year — and are dubbed the "green bag" appointments because the governor traditionally carries the names of appointees to the Senate in an actual green bag.

Hogan's green bag appointments last year included 331 people who were named to dozens of panels ranging from the University System Board of Regents to the Maryland Economic Development Commission.
