December 19th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Tuesday night at Cumberland’s  City Hall, Mayor Brian Grim presided over his final meeting in office, hearing accolades from friends, family and fellow council members past and present. Grim, who served two years as a councilman and the past eight as mayor, was defeated in the November election by Ray Morriss who will be sworn in January 7th. The accomplishments of the Grim administration were noted by many throughout the evening and those included the decision to hire Jeff Rhodes as City Administrator; deciding to halt efforts to reconvert the old Memorial Hospital building; paving and upgrading roads, streets and sidewalks across the city; and most notably taking a $1.9 million deficit into a $2.1 million surplus. These comments from former councilwoman Mary Beth Pirolozzi…

Mayor Grim, who teared up on a few occasions during the tribute, told WCBC News after gaveling his final meeting to a close, that he is most proud the “be bold” mantra adopted during his time in office taking on all challenges
