Gubernatorial Candidates Focusing On Domestic Violence Measure

Two of Maryland's leading Democratic candidates for governor are focusing on supporting measures to reduce domestic violence in the state. Lt. Governor Anthony Brown testified on Friday for a package of legislation. Attorney General Doug Gansler wants to give judges discretion to add five years on to a sentence for someone who commits domestic violence in front of a child. The bill that Gansler supports applies to children two years of age and older. Brown is backing a similar measure that would apply to children of any age. While the two men have and are expected to voice sharp differences on a wide range of issues during the upcoming campaign- there is common ground on the issue of fighting domestic violence…
