Hearings Scheduled for North-South Corridor

Two public hearings are scheduled this week that will provide an update on the long discussed North-South Corridor for the region. The Maryland State Highway Administration and the West Virginia Division of Highways,  along with the Federal Highway Administration are cooperating in the development of a Tier I Environmental Impact Statement to study corridors for improving capacity and operational safety of the US 220 National Highway System between Appalachian Corridor H in WV and I-68 in Maryland. This Tier I study will analyze preliminary corridors recommended as a result of the recent North South Appalachian Corridor Feasibility study completed under the co-sponsorship of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia departments of transportation. Two workshops are scheduled:  Tuesday, September 13 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Keyser Primary/Middle School in Keyser, West Virginia; and  Wednesday, September 14 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Bel Air Elementary School.  The purpose of the public involvement is to provide all interested persons the opportunity to comment on the results of the engineering & environmental studies.
