Heat Advisory in parts of Maryland

September 3rd, 2018 by WCBC Radio

A Code Red Extreme Heat Alert has been issued for Labor Day and Tuesday with because of the heat index expected to rise above 100. The heat index combined both air temperature and relative humidity.

The steamy weather continues, thanks to the stubborn Bermuda High.  Temperatures will climb into the low 90s on this Labor Day, and the humidity will make it feel 10 degrees hotter.  A perfect day for the pool, but keep an eye on the sky, as a few thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and early evening. The heat sticks around into the first days of school, feeling like the low 100s each afternoon. Temperatures drop off by the weekend with an increased chance for rain. Friday has the greatest chance for rain and thunder.

On a side note, the heat index is forecast to reach 100-105 tomorrow afternoon, which could result in early dismissal for schools without air conditioning
