Heavy Traffic Already in State for New Health Care

Maryland is now well into the second week of enrollment for its health exchange under the federal Affordable Care Act. So far just over 300 people have connected with Maryland Health Connection. Officially, as of Monday, 326 had actually enrolled.  That's out of more than 170,000 visitors and 13,000 who have been able to set up accounts with working log-ons. As for those preferring to use the phone, there have been 10,000 calls to the call center. The website, Maryland Health Connection, was slow at best in the go-live last week, and state officials say they have added capacity and their IT people are working around the clock to keep it running. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, a strong supporter of the health care reform act, said any major new undertaking will see some glitches and bumps in the road in the beginning…
