Outgoing executive director of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation Shawn Hershberger says although there have been some setbacks in recent years- he remains optimistic about the future of the Footer Dye Works project. Plans to renovate the aging structure into a revitalized mix of loft apartments in the upper floors, with a micro brewery and pub commercial operation on the ground floor are moving forward. Washington based developer Michael Joy along with the state of Maryland are investing millions of dollars into the project. Hershberger, who announced last week that he would be leaving the area for a new job in Virginia, told the Cumberland Rotary Club Tuesday that a great deal of the early work has been completed inside the building and out of public view…
