High School Graduation And Dropout Rate Increase

The state is reporting its highest high school graduation rate in memory. But data just released show the high school drop out rate has also increased slightly. According to data released earlier this year from the Maryland State Department of Education says 87% of Maryland high school students graduated in June. That was up a half a percent from last year and 2% since 2007. On the down side, the data also show that the high school dropout rate in Maryland is up from last year. This year's rate is 3.2% compared to 2.5% in 2010. William Rienhard, a spokesmans for the department, discussed the increasing dropout rates…
