Hit and Run – DWI Arrest

Officers responded to the 600 Blk of Fayette St. for a report of a hit and run. The suspect vehicle was reported to have struck a wall and curb in this area and continued on without stopping. The M/V crash was witnessed by a subject who followed the suspect vehicle. Once the suspect vehicle stopped at its residence the operator got out of the vehicle and started to yell at the witness. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the suspect who was identified as Ashley Morgan Perkins. Perkins had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and person. She admitted to drinking two glasses of wine prior to driving. Perkins advised she would submit to field sobriety tests but only made it part way through one before she became uncooperative and wouldn’t stop yelling at the officers and witness. She was placed under arrest and transported to PH where she was charged and processed. Investigation into the crash revealed that Perkins struck a curb that broke the right front wheel off of the axle to her vehicle. She was able to drive the disabled vehicle to her residence where she was able to park it in the driveway prior to the officers arrival.

Charges: Hit and Run, DUI per See, DUI, DWI
Perkins was released to a family member pending trial in District Court.
