Hogan Calls for Redistricting in State

Governor Larry Hogan this week again has called for a nonpartisan redistricting commission, saying that Maryland had the most gerrymandered districts in the country, and that “the overwhelming majority of Maryland citizens” wanted change. Addressing the issue as part of the state of the state address, Governor Hogan’s proposed legislation institutes a nonpartisan redistricting process for Congressional and Legislative Districts and also provides criteria for Congressional Districts. The Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affiars Committee conducted a hearing on the governor’s proposal Thursday afternoon…

    If the guiding principle is one man one vote then why not split the state into population districts. Being more sparsely populated the western most voting district may include all of Garrett, Allegany, Washington, and Frederick counties. Then, continuing to the East the next district would be ended when that population number has been reached. So on and so on.

    That is basically what are district was? Until they kept re-electing a Republican. And you know that that cannot stand in, Maryland. So they jerry-rigged it. Put a bunch of liberals from Montgomery County in with us. We have nothing in common with these people from Montgomery County.
