Hogan Plans To Restore Highway User Funds

Anne Arundel County Executive Steven Schuh says the best news he took from a meeting this week with Maryland’s Governor-elect is the plan to gradually restore highway user funds to local governments. The Transportation Trust Fund, which for years provided millions of dollars for local road and bridge projects, has been raided in recent years during the O’Malley administration with funds targeted elsewhere. Allegany County, for example, just a few years ago was receiving millions of dollars annually for road projects- but that has been reduced by almost 90% with the county now receiving less than a million. Schuh says he was encouraged to hear governor-elect Larry Hogan talk about restoring those funds…
