Hours after criticizing Democrats for failing to approve income tax cuts during the 90 day Maryland General Assembly Session, Governor Larry Hogan highlighted the cooperation between Republicans and Democrats, when he signed more than 100 bills into law. "We sent a message to Marylanders that we can work together and work in a bipartisan fashion, and we can get things done," Hogan said at the ceremony where he was joined by House Speaker Mike Busch and Senate President Mike Miller. Hogan stressed bipartisan agreement to pass the justice reinvestment act and scholarships for low income students. Both Miller and Busch also highlighted areas where Democrats and Republicans agreed, though Busch noted he was disappointed that the mandatory worker sick leave bill did not pass the Senate. Efforts to link that bill to the tax cuts the governor wanted failed on the alst day of session, and neither initiative passed. Among the bills Hogan signed today, a measure to offer merit pay to law enforcement officers, and a bill to waive the feed for G.E.D. test for homeless people.
