Hogan Signs Pledge On Redistricting

November 6th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

In Annapolis, Gov. Larry Hogan has not given up on his proposal to change the way the boundaries of the state's congressional districts are done. Hogan has signed a pledge from Common Cause to support congressional redistricting reform that specifically proposes a nonpartisan commission instead of lawmakers set boundaries for congressional districts. Since taking office in 2015, Hogan has introduced a constitutional amendment every year to make that change, and the measure has gone nowhere in the Maryland General Assembly, where top Democrats have opposed it.

Hogan said the nonpartisan commission would select boundaries that don't favor one party over the other.

Hogan is trying. We haven’t had a voice since O’Malley was in office.
