Holiday House Tour

December 12th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

A limited number of tickets remain for the 2015 Holiday Historic Home Tour, sponsored by the Western Maryland Heritage Association Dec. 12 from 2 to 6 p.m.

The tour will feature two prominent local private homes, plus two new twists on the popular annual event. All of the historic properties on the tour are located in Cumberland’s Washington Street historic district.

For the first time on the tour, an entire renovated historic property will be open to the public before occupancy. Local historic renovation specialist Holly Bambino has arranged for her work at the 10,000-square-foot, turn-of-the-century mansion at 532 Washington St. to open for a “renovator’s showcase.”

Also special for 2015, the Allegany County Historical Society’s bungalow at 632 Washington St. will be open for tour ticket holders. The Brooke Whiting House of Art is otherwise open to the public only by appointment, making this year’s tour a special opportunity to view the Whiting family’s unique collection of books, art from around the world and vintage original furniture.

Two large private homes are also new to the tour in 2015.
