Home Declared A Total Loss After Saturday Morning Fire

A Pleasant Valley Road home was declared a total loss late Saturday morning after it sustained an estimated $65,000 dollars in damages due to a fire. The home at 13800 Pleasant Valley Road owned by Joseph and Joanne Miltenberger caught fire just before 11am and Joseph Miltenberger sustained minor injuries while attempting to battle the blaze. Miltenberger was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment. Firefighters fought the fire from inside the house for approximately 15 minutes before having to evacuate due to the roof beginning to collapse. Firefighters had to contend with freezing temperatures and having no access to fire hydrants. Hydrants in the area had been shut off due to freezing temperatures recently. The fire remains under investigation by the Maryland State Fire's Marshal's Office however, it appears to be accidental in nature. Numerous emergency personnel responded to the blaze including the Allegany County Fire Police, Baltimore Pike, Bedford Road, Flinstone, Bowmans Addition, District 16, Bowling Green, Orleans, LaVale, Midland, Ridgeley, DNR Police and personnel from Potomac Edison…
