Hospitals Letter Of Intent To Advance Key Components Of Health Care Reform

March 14th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

Talks began in 2012, but it wasn’t until October of last year that the Western Maryland Health System, Frederick Regional Health System and Meritus announced that a Letter Of Intent (LOI) had  been signed among the three organizations in which the parties agree to explore new initiatives for cooperation and mutual support. The goal is to advance key components of health care reform, such as better care, reduced cost and a focus on population health management for the western Maryland region.  Barry Ronan, president and CEO of Western Maryland Health System told WCBC News that the Regional Health Alliance Board will evaluate the merits of forming a Management Services Organization, or MSO, to manage and consolidate administrative functions. He said early in the process a full fledged consolidation had been discussed, but there is no planned movement in that direction at this time….
