WBAL reports the union that represents Harford County sheriff's deputies has opened a fund to support the two deputies killed in the line of duty in Abington Wednesday.
The Harford County Deputy Sheriff's Union has set up a GoFundMe page, donations through which are tax-deductible. The deputies, Patrick Dailey and Mark Logsdon, were killed after Dailey arrived at a Panera Bread there and spoke with David Evans, who was wanted on warrants in Harford County and Florida. Without warning, Evans produced a handgun and shot Dailey in the head. Logsdon was shot during the pursuit that ensued and returned fire.
“Every day, the brave men and women of our agency put themselves at personal risk to keep the citizens of our County safe. Please join us in prayers for both Sr. Deputy Dailey and Sr. Deputy Logsdon, and the many family members and friends of these two fallen heroes,” union president Fred Visnaw said in a statement.
Dailey, a 30-year veteran, helped build the union in 1989, a release notes. Logsdon, a 16-year veteran, left his new job as a deputy in 2001 when he was called as an Army reservist. He served at the Pentagon, Guantanamo Bay and in Iraq and was a member of the union's executive board.
Dailey's funeral has been set for next Wednesday. Arrangements for Logsdon are still pending.
Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler wrote in a Facebook post that the Harford Sheriff's Foundation has also set up separate pages for each of the fallen officers
