I-68 Motor Vehicle Accident Ends With CDS Arrest

On 4/2/2016 at approximately 1432 hrs., the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barracks responded to a reported motor vehicle collision on w/b I68 in the area of the 45 mile marker (Hill Crest Drive).  It was reported that a blue Ford Escort struck the rear of a silver Chrysler Pacifica, then fled on foot into the wooded area behind the gas station on Hillcrest Drive.

     3 occupants of the Chrysler Pacifica were transported to WMRMC for treatment of injuries.  During the course of the investigation, Heroin, and CDS paraphernalia was located inside the suspect’s vehicle.  An extensive search was conducted for the suspect, to include the use of Aviation Trooper 5, two MSP K9 tracking units, and the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s, and Cumberland City Police Department.  The suspect was located, and identified as Shane Patrick Moore, 23, of Cumberland, MD.  He was arrested without incident and transported to the MSP Cumberland Barracks for processing. 

     Shane Moore was charged with possession of CDS and CDS paraphernalia, and numerous traffic violations regarding the collision and fleeing from the scene of an accident.  Moore was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $20,000.
