I-68 re-opens following tractor-trailer fire

The westbound lanes of Interstate 68 re-opened early Saturday morning following a   after a tractor-trailer caught fire near Rocky Gap State Park late Friday night. Maryland State Police said the road was expected to be reopened around 11:30 p.m. The driver, Irolvis Lara Boyce 43, and passenger, Jose Rodriguez Cordova, 24, both of Louisville, Kentucky, were uninjured following the 6:45 p.m. incident, Maryland State Police said.  The 2008 Volvo tractor was pulling a fully enclosed trailer loaded with paper, police said. Both were destroyed. Police said overheated trailer brakes sparked the fire. The State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure, detour and inspection of the bridge on Rocky Gap Road over Interstate 68 while the vehicle was removed.
