The Maryland State Police, Hagerstown Barrack, is currently investigating a personal injury motor vehicle collision that occurred on eastbound I-70 at St. Paul Road. The collision occurred at approximately 2:17 a.m.
A box truck was traveling eastbound on I-70 when for unknown reasons ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and head on into a tree. The operator, a 29 year old Beltsville, MD man was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with non life threatening imjuries. The passenger, a 26 year old female also from Beltsville, was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical, also with non life threatening injuries.
This collision caused both east bound lanes of I-70 to be closed for approximately four and a half hours. The lane closure is still in effect at the time of this press release.
The collision is still under investigation at this time.
