I 70 Rollover Injures Driver

On Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 0839 hours the Hagerstown Barrack responded to a single vehicle collision eastbound I-70 prior to the 28 MM. The vehicle had reportedly rolled over. The driver was pinned in the vehicle for a short time before being extricated by Washington County Fire Rescue units. Once extricated, the driver and sole occupant was transported to Meritus Medical Center where he received treatment.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle was eastbound on I-70 at MD 632 traveling in lane one. The vehicle then swerved suddenly and then traveled off the roadway on the right side, striking the embankment before overturning several times. The vehicle then came to rest on its roof on the right shoulder.

The investigation is continuing as alcohol is indicated as a possible contributing factor.
