Icy Weather Hits Area

According to the National Weather Service, there is a winter storm advisory for Allegany and Mineral Counties through Saturday. The winter storm is expected to bring snow sleet and freezing rain with accumulations between 1-2 inches of snow and a 1/4 inch of ice. By authority of the Maryland State Police, Cumberland Barrack, the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect for Allegany County. When the “Plan” is in effect, all vehicles operating on designated Snow Emergency Routes must have chains, snow tires, or all-season radial tires.
