LaVale man arrested for Threats and Soliciting Murder

On June 27, 2017, 40 year old Christopher John Idol was arrested by members of the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police and the Cumberland City Police (CERT).

 

Investigators were notified of numerous Facebook posts made by Idol referencing threats to an Allegany County Judge, as well as soliciting to murder other individuals.

A search warrant was conducted at Idol's residence in LaVale, where he was arrested without incident. Idol was charged with Threatening a State Official and two counts of Solicitation to First Degree Murder.

He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bond. The investigation is continuing by the Allegany County Sheriff's Office and C3I.
