Important to remember pets during severe winter weather

The winter months keep Allegany County Animal Control officers busier than normal. It’s not unusual for the shelter and animal control to see a spike in calls from concerned neighbors about animals being left outside in the cold. Karl Brubaker is the Animal Shelter Director and also in charge of animal Control.  He addressed the Cumberland Rotary Club Tuesday on the importance of keeping your pets safe during severe winter conditions- such as the next few days when temperatures are forecast to drift below zero. He said the three primary focal points for your outdoor animal are to provide adequate food, adequate water and adequate shelter.  He said even if you are taking good care of your pet, it’s equally important to keep an eye out for those who may not be- and who are potentially exposing an animal to dangerous conditions…
