In Response To Leaked DNC Email, Franchot Invites Interim Chair To Cambridge

July 29th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

In an email released in the WikiLeaks dump of Democratic National Committee emails, a top official had unkind words about the eastern shore city of Cambridge. WBAL reports Comptroller Peter Franchot would like to correct the record. He sent a letter to interim DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile to offer a tour of the Dorchester County town.

The email from national finance director Jordan Kaplan recounted a visit there.

"It was fine," he wrote. "S****y town and were [sic] only stayed for a few hours. We spent the night in annapolis [sic]."

Franchot, also a Democrat, took affront.

"Had that individual spent more than a few hours in Cambridge – visiting its charming main street, meeting its warm and welcoming residents, enjoying its scenic views, and learning about its history and culture – I trust that he would have reached a different conclusion than the one he ignorantly shared," Franchot wrote. "Throughout the years, Cambridge has proudly hosted a number of Democratic gatherings and visits from a long list of Party leaders, including President [Barack] Obama, Vice President [Joe] Biden, Secretary [Hillary] Clinton, and [House Democratic] Leader [Nancy] Pelosi. I’m certain they have a much different perception of this beautiful city."

He offered to personally lead Brazile on a tour of the city's shops and restaurants.
