After several calls to the Dave Norman show in reference to people from out of the area moving here due to the programs and services available, WCBC contacted several local agencies to determine if, in fact, there is an increase in requests for assistance, where the additional people now utilizing services are from, and what may be causing the increase. Diana Loar from the Western Maryland Food Bank contends the people are local.
Mary Beth Pirolozzi from the County United Way agrees the majority are local and gives several reasons why she believes the increase in requests is happening
