Increased Enrollment May Lead to Larger Allocation

A spike in student enrollment is expected to lead to additional local dollars next year for the Allegany County Board of Education. The maintenance of effort formula commits the county commissioners to a cost per pupil allocation- if student population is down, such as was the case this past year, the local fiscal commitment is also permitted to decrease. That should not be the case in 2015 as School Superintendent Dr David Cox reports that initial numbers are encouraging….
