The Cumberland Water Department has been called to fix a pressure valve problem on Independence Street. Sources say it is a valve problem and not a break.
Water Department sources said that the pressure had been decreased this afternoon to the point that crews could do some actual repair work. Hydrants had been opened to acheive the pressure reduction, but that may cause icy roads on nearby streets as the water freezes.
