Local health officials are reporting that while there are influenza cases in the area, the overall activity statewide is sporadic. Cases of the influenza virus grew in December. The Allegany County Health Department is closely monitoring the situation. While the illness is predominant in children and the elderly, there’s a greater than normal proportion of younger people being affected this influenza season. County Health Officer Dr Sue Raver said that it’s not too late to get a flu shot- but added that there are a number of ways to help stave off illness….
