The search for a new Allegany County Superintendent of Schools could be a lengthy process with board vice president David Bohn suggesting that an interim appointment could hold the post for six months to a year. Superintendent David Cox has agreed to terms with the Sullivan County Tennessee Board of Education for the head position there- and that contract is expected to be approved and ratified at Thursday’s meeting. Among the terms for Cox in Tennessee is an August 1st start date. At this point the local board has not commented on the situation or provided any information on the potential search process- as negotiations between Cox and board attorneys pertaining to his departure continue. Dr Bohn, on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”, said that while the board plans to be transparent during the process- with negotiations not yet complete- no comments can be made at this point…

I’ll state now that I am willing to accept the position of Allegany County Superintendent of Schools for any period of time as necessary.
In this position I plan to allow the Board to ignore it’s required responsibilities as they presently do and to continue it’s petty and aggravating bickering and non cooperation.
