Issues At The Potomac Highlands Airport

On the heels of two board members abruptly resigning  and allegations of misconduct against the airport manager- newly appointed chair of the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority Creade Brodie Jr says he is interested in the future of the airfield, not the past.  At an executive session last week, Max White, chairman of the authority and Terry Malone, board member, resigned after what was described as a heated closed session. Following the meeting, Malone, who was fired as airport manager last year, talked to the media about filing criminal charges against Airport Manager Ryan Shaffer alleging safety violations, extortion charges, insurance fraud, and falsification of employee time cards, preferential treatment of board members, ethics violations and awarding contracts without going to bid. One of Malone’s major concerns is what he believes is the ongoing use of fuel that was possibly contaminated.
