Airport Authority Meets Today

December 4th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The hope is that a year that began with controversy, in-fighting and legal challenges for the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority can end on a high note, and a tone of cooperation. The issues in 2014 for the authority were many, and wide spread ranging from a legal battle over which state’s guidelines to follow in conducting business; to the cancellation of the popular autocross event; to two changes at the chairman’s position. After months of criticism following the authority’s decision to reject an application for the motorcross event- then chairman Creade Brodie Jr resigned in June, saying among other things that it had gotten so bad that members of his family were being harassed. In October, the Mineral County commissioners voted to withdraw the four members from the authority, to prohibit Mineral members from participating and to suspend funding. However, after some recent,  informal conversations between members of the Allegany and Mineral county board’s of commissioners- Brodie was re-appointed to the board, and an authority meeting scheduled for later today. Allegany County Commissioner Mike McKay tells WCBC News that he felt that the bickering among authority members was getting out of hand, and that intervention by both board’s of county commissioners was an appropriate course of action to try to stabilize the situation…
