Small Business Saturday, Nov. 24, is a day set aside to show support for local small businesses. Created in 2010 by American Express, the day offers an opportunity to enjoy a stroll down Main Street one day after the hustle and bustle of Black Friday. Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot has long been an advocate of shopping local- having visited many of the businesses along the downtown Cumberland Mall. He says it’s a way to boost the local economy as most of the money you spend at a local small business stays in the local community. In addition it offers support for local small business owners….
