Jack Gilmore, who as a coach was a larger than life figure who won state championships at Allegany and Valley, has passed away at the age of 77. Gilmore, the winningest football coach in the storied history of Alco, served for several years at the Campers Athletic Director, and was also an outstanding broadcaster at WCBC and a friend to many on our staff.
Jack will be remembered for his gregarious personality and devotion to smash mouth football, always true to his background as a lineman at LaSalle. Local officials will remember his demeanor on the sideline.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home in Virginia Avenue on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of Sts. Peter and Paul Friday at 10 AM.
