Frostburg State University has announced that Sara-Beth James has been promoted to the position of director of Assessment and Institutional Research. James was previously a research analyst in that department.
“Sara-Beth is a wonderful colleague with outstanding interpersonal skills and work ethics,” said Dr. Ahmad Tootoonchi, FSU’s interim provost. “She has assumed an increasing level of responsibility in her present role, and I believe she has the knowledge and the skills to lead this office.”
Before coming to FSU, James was the executive director of the Family Crisis Resource Center, Inc., in Cumberland. She also served as the director of Institutional Research at Allegany College of Maryland and as an evaluation and program specialist at the Local Management Board of Allegany County, Inc., also in Cumberland.
An active professional in the community, James has been a member of the Allegany County Board of Education since 2010, serving as president in 2012. She was chair and is currently vice chair of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Allegany! Steering Committee and was co-chair of the County United Way Annual Campaign. James also served on the board of directors of Jane’s Place, Inc. (Allegany County’s child advocacy center) and the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault. She is a member of the Western Maryland Health System Community Advisory Committee.
James earned her bachelor’s in economics from FSU and her master’s in applied economics from the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. She is pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership from FSU.
