Jealous Campaign Exceeds Fundraising Goal But Still Trails Hogan Campaign

On Tuesday, the Ben Jealous campaign reported exceeding its million-dollar fundraising goal since the June 11 filing deadline. Despite that news, Maryland’s democratic candidate for governor trails incumbent Republican Larry Hogan significantly in fundraising and the polls.   Hogan’s re-election campaign reported this week it has raised about $2.5 million in the latest filing period.  Hogan’s campaign is reporting the governor has $9.4 million cash on hand. That’s after the Republican’s campaign spent more than $1 million on recent television ads statewide, including in the Baltimore and Washington media markets. In the latest statewide poll, Hogan has a commanding 16 point lead over Jealous. Director of the Goucher Poll Mileah Kromer says, just a little more than two months before the election, Jealous is facing an uphill battle.
