Jennings Run Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation To Be Paid For By Users

As a result of the county’s share of a million dollars for the Jennings Run Sanitary Sewer rehabilitation- users of the system, primarily those in the Mt. Savage area will be asked to cover the local cost the project. The upgrades are the result of a consent order with the Maryland Department of the Environment dating back to 2006.  Paul Kahl, Director of Public Works for Allegany County, told the commissioners last week that the majority of the project is being covered by way of a state grant for $875,000- the rest must be paid back by the system users. Kahl said that there are several options for the payback plan, and the residents will be asked for their preference during a future public meeting on the subject…
